Leeds Town Hall was built in 1858 as a statement of civic pride and a reminder of the importance of Leeds as a centre of trade and commerce. The building has become famous as an example of a kind of Victorian architecture that reflects the wealth, power and confidence of the age in which it was created.
Opened by Queen Victoria, Leeds’s favourite building has remained at the centre of the life of the city of Leeds for over 150 years. Each year Leeds Town Hall presents a packed programme of twenty world-class orchestral concerts, free lunchtime organ recitals, folk, world and pop gigs, stand-up comedians, film screenings, talks, tours, exhibitions and much more!
